Register for new employee orientation

ALL EMPLOYEES: New Employee Orientation Program

The ‘McMaster New Employee Orientation Program (NEO)‘ is designed to be an informative and highly interactive experience to welcome new employees to the University. Continuing faculty and employees, or those in a contract position greater than 12 months are eligible to attend the NEO program. Visit the link above for details on upcoming sessions and how to register.

Unifor Staff: Union Orientation

Members of Unifor will be contacted directly by the Union with an invitation to attend a Union Orientation Session. New employees may also be visited by a Union representative for the purpose of dropping off Union materials, contact information and an invitation to the Union Orientation session, per the collective agreement.

Faculty Orientation

The ‘Program for Faculty Development Orientation‘ is intended to complement departmental orientation with a focus on acquiring an understanding of the philosophies and complexities of the Faculty, discovering the many support services available, and engaging in discussion with colleagues from other disciplines and Faculty leaders. Sessions are held twice a year for new faculty hired within the last year.
The ‘MacPherson Institute’s Information for New Faculty and Instructors‘ provides the opportunity to connect with an Educational Developer for guidance and feedback on teaching and course delivery, as well as a New Faculty Guide to Teaching to & Learning at McMaster.
The Health Sciences Library has a Clinical Faculty Orientation Guide to introduce you to the library’s key resources and provides useful tips to using these tools effectively.

Postdoctoral Fellow Orientation

The FHS Postdoctoral Fellow Association regularly offer information sessions for postdoctoral fellows in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Visit the FHS Postdoctoral Association website for more information.
Additionally, McMaster’s Office of Postdoctoral Affairs & Research Training offers orientation sessions throughout the year for incoming postdocs. Look for an invitation through your email, or contact Correen Mascotto (smithcf@mcmaster.ca) for more information.

Ensure you can login to Mosaic

Mosaic is McMaster’s administrative information system. This is where you will find pay information, make changes to your personal information, sign up for health and safety training, search for internal career opportunities and more. Your MAC ID will be your login, however you will not have access until your official start date. Once logged on, you may select ‘Support and Documentation’ to view ‘How-to-Guides’ and tip sheets for using the system.

Ensure you are added to McMaster's Faculty and Staff Directory

McMaster’s Faculty and Staff directory contains contact information for all faculty and staff at McMaster University. If you have not yet been added to the directory, you must complete an online form to be approved by UTS. Click on ‘update your directory listing’ within the directory, and login with your MAC ID. Once logged in, you may select the tab ‘Update Directory Listing’ and complete the form.

Receive your first pay deposit

Faculty and employees with McMaster University are paid bi-weekly by direct deposit. You have access to your pay statements and other personal information through Mosaic. Review your pay statement and ensure that it accurately reflects your benefit choices, payroll deductions, personal information, pension/RRSP contributions (if applicable), etc.

MORE is a new learning and development offering launched through Human Resources Services, the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) and DeGroote Executive Education. Take the 'Core Orientation to McMaster' and learn about McMaster's history, governance, mission, strategy, leadership philosophy and more. You may access MORE through Avenue to Learn.
